Catacombs Of Kom El Shoqafa
The Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa are a historical archaeological site located in Alexandria, in the Kom el Shoqafa area south of the Mina el Basal district. It is considered one of the most important cemeteries in the city, and is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Middle Ages. The cemetery consists of a series of tombs, statues, and Alexandrian archaeological remains of the Pharaonic funeral cult. Due to the time period at the time, many features of the catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa combine Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultural points.
Biblioteka of Alexandria
The New Library of Alexandria or the General Authority of the Library of Alexandria is a revival of the ancient Library of Alexandria, the largest library of its time, in a huge project undertaken by Egypt in partnership with the United Nations, where the library was rebuilt in a site close to the old library in the Shatby district of the city. The modern library was inaugurated on October 16, 2002 with an international presence.
Pompey’s Pillar
Pompey’s Pillar is an ancient Roman column located in the city of Alexandria, Egypt, and is considered one of the most famous archaeological landmarks in the city. It was erected on Bab Sidra Hill between the current Muslim cemetery area known as the Pillar Tombs and the Kom el-Shuqafa archaeological plateau. It is about 27 meters tall and made of red granite. It was erected in commemoration of Emperor Diocletian in the 3rd century AD.
Citadel Of Qaitbay
Qaitbay Citadel is located at the end of Pharos Island, in the Sayala area of the Customs district in the far west of Alexandria. It was built on the ruins of one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria, which was destroyed in 702 AH as a result of the devastating earthquake that occurred during the reign of Sultan Al-Nasir Muhammad bin Qalawun.
After finishing your day tour. Travel back to Cairo and you will be transferred back to your hor hotel in Cairo.
