Itinerary

Day 1Boarding in Aswan – Kom Ombo – Gebel el-Silsila

The pick-up point for this trip is the address of your choice in Aswan. At 9 am, you’ll be met by your Djed Egypt Travel host.

Transfer from any address in Aswan to embark the Nile Dahabiya. After a welcome by the crew, the boat sets sail towards a small island for a walk through the tranquil countryside.

After lunch on the sundeck, you visit the only double temple of Egypt in Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Haroeris.

The temple has double entrances, procession routes and sanctuaries. Continue sailing to the ancient sandstone quarries at Gebel el-Silsila. First night on board.

Day 2Visit Edfu – El Fawaz

After breakfast, you explore the rock temple and the remains of monuments in the old quarries. While daily life on the riverbanks gets underway and the first fishermen are at work, you can relax on the sundeck while the crew sails to Edfu.

Here you see the fantastically well-preserved temple of Horus, the falcon god. The walls of the innermost part of the temple are completely covered in texts, which actually makes it a library carved in stone. The day ends at a small Nile island where you have dinner around a campfire. Second night on board.

Day 3Visit El-Kab – Esna

Sail to El Kab, the ancient city of Nekheb with temples and rock tombs from the Old Kingdom. Visit some of the tombs cut into the cliffs and the remains of its temples.

It lies on the right bank of the Nile. Tourists don’t usually go to El-Kab itself, but seeing it is not to be missed. From the train, they can see its massive walls, which reveal the remains of a large city that was an important religious center and the capital of the Third Nome of Upper Egypt. As such, it witnessed days of glory and grandeur from prehistoric times to the Byzantine era. The lapse of time and humankind nearly destroyed the city completely.

Sailing to Esna. Third and last night on board.

Esna is considered an important commercial center for the surrounding villages, centers and governors and contains a number of commercial markets. Esna contains many old markets and the Qaysariya market is one of the most beautiful and oldest markets, as it has existed since the nineteenth century and perhaps before that. It is distinguished by being a covered market located in the old Esna area near the temple.

Day 4Disembarkation in Esna / Transfer to Luxor / Visit Highlights of Luxor

Your Dahabiya journey ends this morning in Esna. Enjoy a final breakfast and then you will be transferred to Luxor and enjoy a visit to highlights of Luxor including

Valley of the Kings, which bears witness to the greatness of the pharaohs who built tombs befitting their status as representatives of the living image of God on earth and their souls that would become gods in the afterlife.

The Valley of the Kings contains the tombs of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Dynasties. Among the greatest and most famous kings buried in the Valley of the Kings are King Ramses II, King Seti I and King Thutmose III, the great warrior.

Hateshepsut Temple

The most famous queen who ruled Egypt, Queen Hatshepsut, who was famous as a female queen from a royal lineage, where her great engineer Senmut built her funerary temple as an architectural masterpiece that has no equal in the ancient world.
Queen Hatshepsut ordered the recording of the most important events that occurred during her reign, such as her trade trips to the land of Punt (currently Somalia).

Karnak Temple.

It is considered the largest open museum and the largest archaeological site in the world. It was built by several kings as an expression of their gratitude and thanks to the Theban Triad Amun, Mut and their son Khonsu.

The temple contains several pylons, all of which are in very good condition and depict each king in his own pylon and his worship of the Theban Triad.

After finishing, You will be transferred to your hotel in Luxor.
